The Sr. Compliance Tech. Business Analyst will provide business analysis and related duties for the next generation sanctions screening platform with the primary goal of reducing false positive hits and alerts by 90-95%.
The ideal candidate combines deep domain expertise in sanctions screening, name matching concepts, list management, rules, simulations, entity resolution with a strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, data architecture, and regulatory expectations. This person will liaise with program leadership, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) business partners, operations, and globally distributed engineering teams to ensure the next generation platform meets compliance, operational, and technology objectives. You must demonstrate VP-caliber leadership in strategic analysis, cross-functional influence, executive communication, and the ability to operate with minimal direction while keeping senior management informed of risks and dependencies.

The Sr. Compliance Technology Business Analyst is part of the Compliance Technology team under IT Global Technology Services. We work closely with our business partner, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), who ensures we comply with Global Anti-Money Laundering Policy, the Global Sanctions Policy, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and Fraud.
What you will be responsible for
As Sr. Compliance Tech. Business Analyst you will
- Lead end-to-end business analysis of the next generation screening platform.
- Partner with data scientists, AI/ML engineers to specify requirements for ML models, SLMs, and LLMs, including probability scoring thresholds, contextual feature engineering inputs, model retraining cadence, explainability standards, and MRM documentation needs.
- Specify data flows and integration points for Entity Resolution.
- Lead continuous learning and rules engine design.
- Ensure regulatory and Model Risk Management (MRM) alignment — Produce audit-ready documentation including model assumptions, methodologies, limitations, and performance results.
- Manage stakeholder alignment — Facilitate requirements sessions across FCC risk owners, operations, FCC Innovations, Platform teams, and IT. Present analysis, options, and recommendations to executive stakeholders in clear, concise formats.
- Be able to translate complex ideas into cogent business requirements, Agile stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements documents along with data mapping documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, provide guidance, ask and respond to questions and assist with resolving complex issues.
- Ensure that any gaps identified in the requriements are addressed and rectified by the relevant team.
- Support development and testing teams by answering questions and updating documentation as needed based on feedback.
- Comfortable with building and using visual dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or other similar BI tools.
- Preferred experience with ETL-like tools such as Tableau Prep Builder to be able to clean and transform data.
- Mentor other business analyst resources.
- Be responsible for communication, resolution, and potential escalation of critical issues.
- Work with the Project Manager and Product Owner to create and manage user stories using Jira
- Support team in triaging issues found during testing.
- Support the needs of Business users for User Acceptance Testing (BUAT).
- Be able to work in a complex, deadline-driven organization on projects with minimal supervision.
- Analyze complex problems, derive options and solutions and present in an understandable manner to stakeholders, developers, testers and users at multiple levels.
- Act as a liaison with technology and business unit subject matter experts in support of technology projects.
- Solicit information from business and IT SMEs about application functions, data and process flows.
- Document application functions, data and process flows using prescribed template, or appropriate fit-for-purpose format.
- Participate in integration design process and provide detailed documentation and requirements as appropriate.
- Document reports required by system stakeholders.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Engineering, Business or Technology preferred.
- 8–10+ years of experience in financial services, with significant depth in AML, Sanctions Screening, Transaction Monitoring, KYC, financial securities, and trading principles.
- Deep sanctions screening domain expertise — Thorough understanding of end-to-end entity and transaction screening workflows, including OFAC/EU/UN sanctions regimes, watchlist management, alert disposition, tuning/calibration, and false positive reduction strategies.
- AI/ML literacy — Working understanding of machine learning concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP/NER, model evaluation metrics, feature engineering), sufficient to write meaningful requirements and validate model behavior against business expectations.
- Strong analytical and data skills — Ability to work with large transactional and reference datasets; proficiency with SQL, Python (or similar), and BI/visualization tools.

- Work with geographically distributed teams while maintaining highest standard in collaboration and communication across the QA/DEV and Business teams.

Work Requirement
- This role is located in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $188,750 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
