Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, medication administration, and overall condition; document findings accurately in care plans
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and proper infection control practices
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive and engaging community atmosphere
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Assist with specialized care needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, autism support, neurodevelopmental disorders, and hospice care
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to monitor patients’ vital signs and recognize changes in health status
- Experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other manual handling techniques
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety protocols
- Familiarity with developing or following individualized care plans for residents with complex needs
- Background in caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications related to dementia or Alzheimer's care are a plus
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within healthcare settings
