Portland Public Schools: Paraprofessional Class 1
Portland Public Schools is accepting applications for a Paraprofessional Class 1 position at Oakwood Elementary beginning with the 2026/2027 school year.
We are seeking a caring, patient, and student-centered individual who is passionate about supporting elementary students academically, socially, and emotionally in a positive and collaborative learning environment.
The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:

Ability to assist students with instructional and non-instructional needs as assigned by the classroom teacher

Ability to support students with technology and classroom learning activities

Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Understanding of, or willingness to learn, behavior management strategies

Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in complex or stressful situations

Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records

Compassion, flexibility, professionalism, and a positive sense of humor

Ability to provide positive supervision of students in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, and other school settings

Commitment to building positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Willingness to contribute to a safe, supportive, and collaborative school culture
Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

A High School Diploma

Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues

Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes

Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement
