Responsibilities
- Assist with menu planning to ensure balanced, appealing meal options that meet dietary requirements and nutritional standards
- Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, slicing techniques, and safety protocols
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mixers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area by following cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures to uphold food safety standards
- Handle food with care, adhering strictly to food safety management practices to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation, serving times, and special dietary accommodations
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality and presentation standards
Experience
- Prior experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating proficiency in food handling and meal preparation
- Knowledge of culinary techniques including knife skills, slicing methods, and recipe adherence
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Understanding of food safety regulations and standards within the food industry or catering services
- Experience collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during meal service
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and ensure customer satisfaction
