Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Construction Services provides quality and professional construction services in support of maintaining, renovating and improving the function, safety, comfort and sustainability of campus facilities. The services delivered enable the University to preserve buildings while renovating, adapting and updating them to meet the changing needs of our customers and this campus. Our goal is to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the quality of all craftsmanship will meet or exceed all Industry, Regulatory and University practices. Construction Services delivers renovation, alteration, maintenance or repair projects for the University with an estimated cost of less than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000). Estimates are available upon request, prior to commencement of work.
Position Summary
The duties and responsibilities of this Plumber in Construction Services include reading and interpreting blueprints, using plumbing tools and equipment to perform maintenance of pumps, pipe fittings, and HVAC installations.
A valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification. Optional Guidelines: experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Management Preferences
Progressive experience in the repair, replacement and construction of plumbing and piping systems.
Required Licenses/Certifications
A valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation; carry and use a ladder on job sites; and work from scaffolding.
This position is designated as mandatory and requires the employee to report to work to support critical University operations during adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including public health emergencies or situations that may result in University closure.
