Department History Overview:
Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as Harris County Child Welfare to provide support services for the children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Group Facilitator Overview:
Under the supervision of the Project/Program Manager, the Parent/Teen Group Facilitator provides community-based group services to youth and parents in the Parent/Teen Survival Program, which functions as a general group-based intervention and a court-recognized diversion strategy for youth with active diversion contracts. The Parent/Teen Group Facilitator facilitates curriculum-based groups, supports youth and family engagement, and maintains accurate documentation while delivering services to at-risk youth and families in community-based settings in accordance with program and court-related requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct structured, curriculum-based Parent/Teen Survival Program group sessions (2 to 2½ hours) for youth and parents. Facilitate groups that support skill development, accountability, conflict resolution, and family engagement. Adapt facilitation approaches to meet the needs of diverse youth and families.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, including: Participant case notes, attendance records, incident reports, and required program documentation. Monitor participation and engagement and communicate concerns to the Project/Program Manager as needed. Apply engagement and problem-solving strategies to address barriers to participation and compliance.
Coordinate and prepare materials, copies, and supplies necessary to support the effective delivery of Parent/Teen Survival Program group sessions.
Travel to assigned group locations and deliver services in community-based settings while maintaining coordination with the Project/Program Manager. Maintain professionalism, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
Attend required trainings related to Parent/Teen Survival Program curriculum, facilitation strategies, diversion requirements, and youth and family engagement. Participate in curriculum updates, program evaluations, and effectiveness reviews. Assist with collecting participant feedback to support continuous program improvement.

Education:
Experience:
One (1) year of continuous full-time paid work experience with youth and their families in a youth service agency, institutional, counseling or social service setting.
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Licensure:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of Texas Family Code, court processes, truancy, diversion, and related laws governing children and the ability to interpret to youth and parents.
Knowledge of adolescent development, family systems, and community resources.
Strong facilitation, engagement, and group management skills.
Demonstrate ability to work with diverse youth and families.
Effective documentation and case note writing skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and travel to multiple service locations.
Good organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize.
