Compensation: up to $65; travel stipend can be discussed for candidates who are willing to relocate
Responsibilities:

Provide direct special education services to students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in accordance with IEPs.

Develop and implement individualized instructional plans that support language, communication, academic achievement, and self-advocacy.

Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and related service providers.

Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, eligibility meetings, and progress reviews.

Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure communication access.

Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and complete required reports.

Support students in the use of hearing technology and classroom accommodations.

Provide consultation and training to school staff regarding strategies for supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational planning.

Maintain compliance with district policies and federal and state special education regulations.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education, deaf or hard of hearing, or related field.

Valid Alaskan Teacher Licensure, along with an endorsement of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching

Experience working with school-aged students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is preferred.

Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education procedures.

Familiarity with hearing technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems.

Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with American Sign Language (ASL), Total Communication, Listening and Spoken Language, or other communication approaches as appropriate for students.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to pass all required background checks and district onboarding requirements.
