Currently our accounting department is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our collaborative group of young professionals and grow our business. The Staff Accountant will provide support to Senior Accountants and collaborate with specialists across all accounting service areas, including income tax, bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and new business setup. This role will also assist the accounting team with various projects and other ad hoc assignments as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation
- Assist Senior Accountants in preparing federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals and small businesses
- Conduct research on tax-related questions and issues
- Review tax notices and help client with IRS, local department of revenue correspondences
- Assist clients with IRS or state tax auditing
Small Business Package Services
- Provide support to Senior Accountants across all service areas, including bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, new business setup, and other accounting-related services, while ensuring a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate directly with specialists to independently manage assigned client engagements, including payroll, sales tax, bookkeeping, and new business setup, delivering timely and accurate services that contribute to a high level of client satisfaction and retention.
- Assist with client requests as needed, while maintaining professional communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional client service.
Other Accounting Responsibilities
- Comply with internal work procedures and work closely with other associates on various projects and tasks assigned
- Develop interns and junior accountants to aid the future growth of the company
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Accounting required, and M.S. in Business preferred
- 1+ year of accounting experience in US public accounting firm required
- Microsoft Office Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, ability to meet the deadline and excellent time management
- Customer service oriented and enjoy building relationships with clients
- Professional demeanor with high level of integrity
- High adaptability in a multi-cultural environment
