POSITION DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY: The Young Adult Support Specialist is tasked with supporting youth, ages 15-21, who come from refugee or immigrant families, walking alongside them as they navigate barriers to facilitate a positive integration into school, community, and the workforce. This includes working on digital literacy, language acquisition, soft skill training, career exploration, employment readiness training, and college readiness skills. It also includes tutoring on schoolwork. The work includes working with individuals and groups. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, kindhearted, innovative, and able to work in a diverse, ever-changing environment.
Hours will vary: up to 40 hours M-F 9:30-6:00 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain records for and manage grant reporting and B5 Learning Center records.
- Develop training programs, workshops, and educational events.
- Recruit refugee youth for events and activities at B5 Learning Center.
- Plan and implement high school youth focused programming.
- Support and develop existing youth programs (Dare to Dream)
- Ensure proper outreach, organization, and implementation.
- Coordinate with Kennewick School District and identify issues and solutions at the district level.
- Conduct home visits with families to discuss student needs and promote events/programs.
- Coordinate and oversee middle and high school tutors.
- Provide homework support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field
- Has a minimum of two years' work experience in education or youth development, preferably with refugee or immigrant youth.
- Demonstrates cultural competence and/or cross-cultural international experience.
- Takes initiative and problem-solves effectively in high stress situations.
- Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Office skills.
- Demonstrates competency in a second language.
- Available to work varied hours; days, evenings and weekends.
- Presents a professional image and possesses conflict resolution skills.
- Team player.
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills for people from diverse backgrounds.
- Has the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
