Job Description
Family First Center for Autism is looking for a full or part time speech/language therapist in the Kansas City area to provide speech and language services to toddler and preschool-aged children with autism spectrum disorders.
This position will conduct relevant assessments and provide direct speech and language therapy to children with autism.
Location(s): Family First has three centers in the Kansas City area: Kansas City North, just south of Zona Rosa, Liberty, and Leavenworth, KS, as well as our location in Manhattan, KS.
Job Responsibilities: Speech/Language Therapists are responsible for developing speech and language programming for the children on their caseloads. They are also responsible for conducting assessments as needed, and collaborating with BCBAs, Registered Behavior Technicians and parents to ensure children's goals are implemented throughout their day. Other responsibilities are as follows:
- Attend parent training sessions.
- Attend team meetings as needed to train RBTs on programming
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize workload in an efficient and productive manner in the assigned work time.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to changes in schedule and environment.
- Provide quality speech therapy in a manner that takes into account the special needs of the child (e.g., age, culture, learning ability, etc.)
- Take initiative to learn and apply new processes and procedures by attending in-services, pertinent continuing education seminars, and reading professional journals and sharing that information with team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited school
- ASHA Certification or willingness to work towards the certification
- Current Kansas and Missouri SLP licensure or ability to work towards licensure
- **We can provide clinical supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children, and preferably children with a diagnosis of autism or other developmental disabilities
