Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Teacher to inspire and guide young learners in a vibrant educational environment. As a Lead Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in designing engaging curricula, implementing individualized support plans, and fostering a nurturing classroom atmosphere that promotes growth, independence, and confidence. Your leadership will ensure that each student receives tailored instruction aligned with their unique needs, especially those with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders. Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development, literacy education, math, and communication skills tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Lead classroom activities that promote active learning, social-emotional development, and behavioral health management for students with disabilities.
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure instructional modifications meet legal requirements under special education law.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and behavioral therapy techniques to create a safe and inclusive environment.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress using standardized testing methods and adapt instructional approaches accordingly.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student development, progress on IEP goals, and strategies for continued support at home.
- Integrate educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and facilitate personalized instruction for children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood education or elementary school settings, especially those with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Strong background in special education principles, including behavior management for students with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques, curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy/math instruction tailored for diverse learners.
- Familiarity with special education law, IEP development, instructional modifications, and accommodations required for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, speech therapists, behavioral health professionals, and other team members.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or speech delays is highly desirable.
- Ability to mentor junior staff or teaching assistants while maintaining an energetic and motivating classroom environment.
- Certification in early childhood education or special education preferred; Montessori or preschool experience is a plus.
