Job Title: Cleaning Ambassador

Summary
The Ambassador position is responsible for enhancing the vitality and attractiveness of Downtown Ithaca
through a robust cleaning and hospitality program, as well as supporting the events and marketing teams
In creating an engaging, vibrant, and successful downtown.
Essential Functions
- Perform manual work as directed to maintain cleanliness of all common areas in downtown Ithaca.
- Maintain constant communication to the Public Space Operations Director regarding route condition and task completion details.
- Work collaboratively with the City of Ithaca, businesses, property owners, constituents, and coworkers on implementing the ongoing maintenance and special projects that ensure Downtown Ithaca is a place for everyone.
- Perform litter and trash collection, and change trash can liners, regularly as needed.
- Perform manual labor, including sweeping/mopping, plant care, weed pulling, watering of plants, pruning trees, snow removal, and salt spreading as necessary.
- Provide support in relation to event site preparation, event setup and tear down, and other event related duties as assigned or requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Public Space Operations Director that are deemed appropriate and necessary for the position.
Education, Experience & Competencies
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be able to exercise common sense, patience, and sound judgment at all times
- Must be team-oriented and willing to work to build an atmosphere of teamwork in the workplace with staff at all levels
- Ability to establish community visibility by delivering courteous and professional customer service when interacting with constituents
- Must cultivate consistency of service by strictly adhering to DIA policies and standards
- Must possess a high degree of professionalism and strong organizational skills
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Prolonged standing/walking and manual labor will be required; at least for an 8-hour shift.
- Hours outside regular work hours may be required, including nights and weekends.
- Outdoor work in different work/weather conditions may be required. Extreme weather conditions and loud noises may occur.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds routinely.
