Construction Quality Control Inspector

Job Summary:
The Construction Quality Control Inspector is responsible for overseeing the quality and safety of construction projects by inspecting materials, processes, and workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications, building codes, and safety standards. This role is critical in maintaining the structural integrity and overall quality of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Material verification: Inspect incoming construction materials and verify that they meet project requirements and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawing
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions. Prepare comprehensive reports for project managers and stakeholders.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant standards, codes, and project specifications.
- Non-Conformance Handling: Identify and document non-conformances and deviations from project specifications. Collaborate with the construction team to develop and implement corrective actions.
- Testing and Sampling: Perform or oversee testing of materials and structures, such as concrete strength testing, soil compaction tests, and weld inspections.
- Quality Assurance Plans: Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for construction projects.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to construction personnel on quality control standards and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance construction quality and project efficiency.
- Safety: Promote and enforce safety protocols on construction sites to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Qualifications:
- Education: 2 years of college degree or equivalent. A degree or certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is highly preferred. Do not apply if you do not have the above qualifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction quality control or a related role in the construction industry.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, methods, and quality control principles.
Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office and construction management software.
- Certifications: Certification in quality control or quality assurance (e.g., CQM-C, CQC, AWS) is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and inspect construction sites for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
Work Environment:
- Working Conditions: Work is performed on construction sites, often in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and potential hazards.
- Travel: Travel to various construction sites may be required.
Pay Rate: for this position is $26 - $28 per hour.
