Overview:
Provides nursing treatment of work-related injury and illness. Assists in administration of case management for prolonged or complex illnesses/injuries. Maintains medical records in accordance with established guidelines. Performs medical screenings such as drug and alcohol, vision, blood pressure, venipuncture, audiograms, and pulmonary function tests. Ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines. Communicates with employees, HR, line management and health care providers on health and fitness-for-duty issues. Implements wellness and prevention programs. Coordinates activities with Occupational Health, Safety, and HR. Performs work site visits and maintains current knowledge of local hazards, toxicity of materials and relevant emergency medical care. Assists in preparing patients for off-site transport during medical emergencies. This position will cover 3 operating sites within a 15-mile radius with approximately 400 employees total.

Maintain confidentiality in all areas/aspects of patient care.

Maintain up to date CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) certification.

Maintain up to date certificate in Spirometry/Pulmonary Function Testing.

Maintain up to date certificate/training as a Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT).
-
Serve as the site’s Infection Control Officer and maintain up to date state mandated refresher training.
-
Work with site SHE Specialist/ERT Coordinator in updating site Exposure Control Plan/Bloodborne Pathogens document/training.
-
Maintain up to date Mylar Injury/Illness Recordkeeping and S35G refresher training.
-
Participate in corporate IHS teleconferences, web meetings, face to face training, and 2nd party OH/Recordkeeping audits.

Serve on site’s Pandemic Plan committee and assist in plan updates.

Hold monthly meetings with members of management for disability review and current employee restrictions.

Work with HR in the management of FMLA paperwork and certifications.

Review and approve all monthly bills for services rendered by outside providers for employees (ie – x-rays, lab work, medicine, medical supplies).

Enter all medical visits in the MedGate EMR (electronic medical record) and ensure proper documentation per OSHA guidelines for both work related and non-work related illnesses/injuries. Also all pre-placement urine drug tests entered and DDR’s sent to corporate and management.

Work with HR in the T&P/Incapability process and preparing the MER (medical evaluation report) for submission along with the CDL (case determination letter) to Aetna for claims.

Work with SHE for OSHA compliance as well as preparatory and participation in second party audits.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Needed:

Active nursing license
-
Basic nursing skills with advanced skills preferred (ICU/CCU, ER)

Knowledge and/or ability to quickly learn new procedures/tasks and run equipment designed for medical testing, etc.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

Serve as the administrator for the Mylar Asbestos Medical Surveillance Program
-
Serve as the nurse for the Mylar Hopewell and Spruance Site and Richmond Zytel site
-
Serve as the American Red Cross contact for the site and schedule and run 2 or more bloodmobiles per year.
-
Serve as the site “liason” to the EAP program and usually the first person contacted for EAP emergencies and/or guidance.
-
Serve as the site’s Infection Control Officer.

Serve as the site administrator in the annual flu vaccine campaign which includes ensuring the ordering of flu vaccine, syringes, needles, alcohol wipes, band-aids, hand sanitizer, and administering the injections.

Adjunct member of the ERT and work with SHE/ERT in medical emergencies, etc.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

BSN preferred.
-
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in State of Virginia.
- Also active membership and/or designation from related professional organization is preferred.
