Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented LTL (Less Than Truckload) Freight Coordinator to join our logistics team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of LTL freight shipments, ensuring seamless transportation and delivery processes. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage LTL freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Collaborate with carriers, 3PL providers, and vendors to negotiate rates, terms, and service levels to maximize value.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to track shipments, update statuses, and analyze freight data.
- Conduct root cause analysis on shipment delays or damages to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Optimize transportation planning by analyzing demand forecasts, inventory levels, and warehouse distribution needs using tools like SQL and Tableau.
- Manage procurement processes related to freight services, including sourcing new vendors and maintaining vendor management records.
- Support inventory control through accurate data collection, demand planning, and supply chain analytics to improve overall efficiency.
- Assist with contract management, pricing strategies, and category management for freight services.
- Ensure compliance with shipping & receiving protocols, materials handling standards, and safety regulations such as forklift operation when necessary.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives by analyzing logistics workflows and implementing best practices for freight management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics coordination, or warehouse distribution roles with a focus on freight or transportation planning.
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in Tableau, SQL, ERP systems (such as SAP or Oracle), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and AS400 platforms.
- Knowledge of 3PL operations, NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) procedures, shipping & receiving processes, and inventory management systems like MRP or ERP solutions.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and carriers while maintaining strong vendor relationships through vendor management expertise.
- Mechanical knowledge related to materials handling equipment such as forklifts is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in order fulfillment, procurement activities, demand planning, and pricing strategies.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments including procurement, warehouse teams, production planning, and logistics partners.
