We are currently in search of a professional, customer friendly, experienced Commercial Door Installer/Repair Technician to join our expanding commercial door division. This is a full time position.
A commercial door installer is a professional responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining doors in commercial and industrial settings. The job description for a commercial door installer typically includes the following responsibilities and qualifications:
Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install various types of commercial doors, including metal doors, glass doors, wood, fire-rated doors, and automatic doors.
- Repair and Maintenance: Conduct repairs on existing doors, addressing issues such as hinges, locks, frames, and door closers. Perform routine maintenance to ensure doors function correctly.
- Automatic Operators:
- Electro-mechanical: Utilize a motor to control both opening and closing, often for high-frequency use.
- Electro-hydraulic: Use a motor to open the door, while a hydraulic closer shuts it, ideal for spaces that are mostly manual.
- Low-Energy Operators: Designed to comply with ANSI/BHMA A156.19 standards, providing safe, slow-speed operation for accessible openings.
- Full Power Operators: Used for higher traffic, faster-acting applications.
- Measurement and Customization: Accurately measure spaces and doors to ensure proper fit. Customize doors as needed to meet specific requirements.
- Material Handling: Handle and transport door materials and equipment safely. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary materials.
- Compliance: Ensure that door installations comply with relevant safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their door installation needs and preferences. Provide information on maintenance and usage.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to door systems, identifying and resolving problems promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Provide reports to supervisors and clients as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other construction professionals, including architects, contractors, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of door systems.
- Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as a commercial door installer or in a related field is required.
- AAADM Certification: Must have AAADM certification or been certified in the past.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using tools and equipment related to door installation and repair. Knowledge of different types of doors and their specifications.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Driving Record - must have clean driving record and approved by insurnace
- Communication: Good communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and address issues with door systems.
- Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail in measurements and installation to ensure accurate and effective results.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards related to door installations.
- Background Check : Due to the sensitivity of our clients, a background check will be performed prior to hiring.
