Job Description:
At Forest Products Supply – Newton, Ks, we pride ourselves on being a regional leader in wholesale building materials. We are seeking applicants who hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A License with Air Brake Endorsement, to transport and deliver residential and commercial building material via semi-tractor with flatbed or roll-off trailer to our customers in a safe and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the loading and/or securing of material on trucks daily. Assist warehouse personnel in verifying materials and quantities for accuracy.
- Responsible for delivering material to our customers and jobsites using the most efficient route available while observing and obeying all traffic laws and safety regulations as well as company policies/procedures.
- Ensure that delivery schedules are met while providing friendly and professional customer service.
- Responsible for securing returning loads on the company vehicle prior to leaving our customer locations.
- Responsible for the completion of required paperwork pertaining to deliveries to ensure the accurate tracking of product and materials for inventory control management purposes.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the inside and outside of delivery vehicles.
- Perform daily safety check on vehicles according to company policies/procedures and Inform dispatch or mechanic of any mechanical, electrical, or structural defects found on any trailers or tractors.
Skills:
- Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with vendors, customers, management, and team members
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years old or older.
- An acceptable driving record and valid state CDL - Class A License with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Must have current and valid Medical Certification Card.
- Pass Pre-employment DOT drug test
- Successful applicants are subject to pre-employment background check and driver history checks in accordance with applicable federal and state law.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to the elements – heat, cold, rain, wind, snow
- The physical demands of the position require an individual to have the ability to bend, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and be able to lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $0.45 - $0.50 per mile
