Introduction Alpha Facilities Solutions is seeking highly qualified Engineer Technicians to provide technical engineering
onsite support to the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) at Fort A.P. Hill, VA. Candidates will assist in the design, estimation, and solicitation development for a wide range of civil, HVAC, and building construction projects essential to installation sustainment.
These positions are based in Bowling Green, VA and require on-site support. Successful candidates must be eligible for employment in the United States and pass background checks as required for the contract positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Planning: Prepare drawings, sketches, and design intent documents for demolition, renovation, and space planning using CAD and GIS technology.
- Solicitation Development: Assist in preparing complete biddable packages, including Scopes of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements (PWS), technical exhibits, and detailed estimates.
- Technical Research: Perform research via historical documents, field measurements, and online reviews to develop construction documents for architectural, mechanical, and electrical features.
- Field Verifications: Conduct investigations, walkthroughs, and site surveys that include climbing ladders and accessing crawlspaces, attics, and roofs.
- Financial Administration: Complete data entry in the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) to create purchase requisitions and MIPRs in support of solicitations.
- Project Reporting: Provide biweekly status reports on facility projects currently in the planning stages to the Lead Technician or DPW Director.
- File Management: Track the progress of individual projects, coordinate material ordering, and maintain general project files.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: An Associate’s degree (including 12 relevant semester hours) and 5 years of experience, OR 10 years of experience in construction management and administration.
- Specialized Expertise: Ideally, candidates will have focused experience in at least one of the following: HVAC systems, Civil projects (road paving, drainage), or General Building Construction (roofs, plumbing).
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and RSMeans for project budgeting.
- Physical & Logistics: Must be able to use a Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) for field research and be physically capable of conducting site surveys in hard-to-reach areas. Must maintain a valid Real ID and Virginia Driver’s License.
- Schedule: 0700 to 1530 EST, Monday–Friday, 8.5 hours per day including a 0.5-hour unpaid lunch.
Clearance: National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) required.
