Job Description:
Involves using specialized brazing techniques to join metal components within heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Heat the metal parts to a high temperature and apply a filler metal that melts and bonds the pieces together, ensuring proper system functionality and leak-proof connections. This role may include preparing components, setting up brazing equipment, performing brazing operations and inspecting the quality of the brazed joints.
Responsibilities include:
- Clean, deburr, and prepare metal parts to be brazed according to specifications.
- Set up and adjust brazing torches, furnaces and other related equipment to achieve the correct heat and flux application.
- Apply flux to the joint, heat the metal parts to the proper temperature, and precisely feed the filler metal to create a strong bond.
- Inspect brazed joints for proper penetration, visual appearance, and leak detection using appropriate testing methods.
- Interpret technical diagrams to understand brazing requirements for specific HVAC components
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safety procedures related to high heat and potentially hazardous materials
