Duties
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture and skin puncture techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, adhering to proper protocols and aseptic techniques
- Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration when required for patient assessment
- Maintain detailed records of specimen collection, processing steps, and patient information with meticulous attention to detail
- Assist with laboratory procedures by preparing equipment, labeling specimens correctly, and ensuring proper storage
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and demonstrating empathy
- Follow infection control standards and maintain a sterile environment during all specimen collection activities
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings with a focus on phlebotomy
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology relevant to venipuncture and blood sampling procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in laboratory testing and patient documentation
- Hands-on experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing in hospital or clinical environments
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique to prevent contamination or infection during procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds while providing compassionate care
- Certification or training in phlebotomy or related laboratory techniques is highly preferred but not mandatory; relevant laboratory experience is essential
