General Summary
The IT Technician provides first-line technical support across all City departments. This role troubleshoots hardware, software, and communication devices while supporting inventory, staff training, and system updates to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical support needs, troubleshooting desktop/laptop PCs, VoIP phones, cellular devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Respond quickly to support tickets, prioritizing issues to minimize downtime.
- Assist users experiencing credential, MFA, and access‑control issues.
- Research best practices and new technologies and assist with implementation.
- Contribute to development of SOPs and assist with staff education.
- Train staff on City‑issued devices and software.
- Monitor City devices for potential misuse or security concerns.
- Apply patches, updates, and security improvements to City devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of IT equipment, devices, and parts.
- Record and livestream City Council, Planning Commission, and other meetings.
- Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with general office equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work independently within established policies.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Two (2) years of helpdesk or computer repair experience.
- CompTIA A+ certification.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,316.13 - $54,953.31 per year
