NSSA (Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism) is committed to supporting students with autism in inclusive educational settings. We are currently hiring Consultant Teachers to provide 1:1 in-classroom support across elementary, middle, and high schools in Nassau and Suffolk County. This is a 12 month position.
This is a support-focused role, working alongside classroom teachers to help individual students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally. You’ll make a direct impact using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and collaborating closely with Behavior Consultants (BCBAs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Work 1:1 with a student in a classroom setting (elementary, middle, or high school)
- Support behavioral, academic, and social-emotional goals
- Implement and model ABA strategies to reinforce positive behaviors and de-escalate challenges
- Conduct ongoing data collection and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with classroom staff, Behavior Consultants, and families
- Participate in formal and informal student assessments
- Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field (required)
- Experience with children with autism and ABA techniques (preferred)
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (a plus)
- New York State Certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities (a plus)
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
- Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) strongly preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and basic computer skills
