About the Company
We are a rapidly growing third-party logistics (3PL) and e-commerce fulfillment company operating multiple warehouse locations across the United States.
We currently operate two warehouse locations, with plans to expand to four or more locations in the near future. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to build and lead a scalable HR organization that can support our expanding warehouse operations.
This is a key HR leadership position with significant responsibility for employee relations, compliance, recruiting, talent development, performance management, and multi-site HR operations.
Position Summary
The HR Manager will oversee HR operations across multiple warehouse locations and work closely with Operations and senior management to build a consistent, compliant, and high-performance organization.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on. You should be comfortable developing HR policies and systems while also dealing directly with employee relations, recruiting challenges, performance issues, and day-to-day HR matters.
As the company grows from two warehouses to four or more locations, this position will play a critical role in developing a standardized HR framework that can be replicated across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities1. Multi-Site HR Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies supporting multiple warehouse locations.
- Establish standardized HR policies, procedures, and SOPs across all locations.
- Partner closely with Warehouse/Operations Managers to address staffing, employee relations, performance, and organizational issues.
- Establish consistent HR practices while adapting to the operational needs of individual locations.
- Provide regular HR support and visits to warehouse locations as needed.
- Build an HR infrastructure that can scale with the company's expansion.
2. HR Compliance & Risk Management
Compliance is a critical responsibility of this position.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, California, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain and continuously improve employee handbook, HR policies, and employment procedures.
- Ensure proper compliance with wage and hour requirements, meal/rest breaks, overtime, paid sick leave, PTO, leave programs, and other applicable California requirements.
- Manage workers' compensation processes and employee injury-related HR matters.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and employment documentation.
- Conduct and document employee investigations when necessary.
- Identify potential HR compliance risks and work with management and outside counsel to address them.
- Establish HR processes that reduce legal and employment-related risks as the company expands.
3. Employee Relations
- Serve as a trusted HR partner for employees and management.
- Handle employee complaints, workplace conflicts, attendance issues, performance concerns, and disciplinary matters.
- Conduct fair and objective employee investigations.
- Provide guidance to managers on employee discipline and performance issues.
- Develop consistent disciplinary and corrective-action procedures.
- Help maintain a professional, respectful, and productive workplace culture.
- Identify employee relations trends and recommend solutions to management.
4. Recruiting & Workforce Planning
- Develop recruiting strategies for warehouse and corporate positions.
- Manage high-volume recruiting for warehouse associates, leads, supervisors, and managers.
- Build recruiting pipelines for future staffing needs.
- Partner with Operations to forecast staffing requirements based on business growth and warehouse volume.
- Improve recruiting speed, candidate quality, and employee retention.
- Develop standardized interview, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Build relationships with recruiting agencies, staffing companies, job platforms, and local talent sources.
5. Talent Development & Succession Planning
- Establish employee development and career progression programs.
- Identify high-potential employees and develop internal talent.
- Create career paths for warehouse associates, leads, supervisors, and managers.
- Develop leadership training programs for frontline supervisors and managers.
- Establish succession plans for key operational positions.
- Promote internal promotion and long-term employee development.
6. Performance Management
- Develop and implement a company-wide performance management system.
- Establish clear performance expectations and KPIs for different positions.
- Work with Operations Managers to conduct regular performance reviews.
- Develop performance improvement plans (PIPs) when necessary.
- Ensure managers are properly trained to provide feedback and manage performance.
- Connect employee performance with compensation, incentives, promotions, and development opportunities.
- Analyze performance trends across different warehouse locations and identify areas for improvement.
7. HR Systems & Data
- Manage and improve HRIS and personnel management systems.
- Maintain accurate employee records across all locations.
- Develop HR dashboards and regular management reports.
- Track key HR metrics including:
- Headcount
- Turnover
- Retention
- Recruiting time-to-fill
- Absenteeism
- Overtime
- Employee performance
- Disciplinary actions
- Workers' compensation
- Labor costs
- Use HR data to identify trends and support management decisions.
8. Payroll & Benefits
- Coordinate payroll and ensure accurate employee information and timekeeping.
- Monitor attendance, overtime, PTO, and other payroll-related matters.
- Coordinate employee benefits and resolve employee questions.
- Work with payroll, benefits, workers' compensation, and HR service providers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience supporting warehouse, logistics, 3PL, manufacturing, transportation, or other high-volume operational environments strongly preferred.
- Experience managing HR across multiple locations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance.
- Strong experience in employee relations and workplace investigations.
- Experience with high-volume hourly recruiting.
- Experience developing performance management and employee development programs.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and partner effectively with senior management and operations leaders.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR / SPHR / SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP certification.
- Experience building HR systems for a rapidly growing company.
- Experience supporting multiple warehouse locations or multiple business units.
- Bilingual English/Chinese or English/Spanish is a plus.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, recruiting, and performance management systems.
- Experience working with outside employment counsel, insurance providers, and HR vendors.

Compensation
$90,000 – $120,000+ per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
For exceptional candidates with strong multi-site HR leadership, California compliance, and warehouse/3PL experience, compensation may be adjusted based on qualifications.
