Position Summary
This position uses innovative thinking skills and mechanical and electrical aptitude in an effort to maintain and improve the overall plant’s reliability and performance. In doing so, product quality and capacities will be maintained or improved while costs are controlled. This employee will support all personnel and food safety programs, company policies and procedures, and have a personal value system that fosters a work environment that is based on trust, human dignity, and honesty. Provides support to plant maintenance department responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations. Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel. Conducts repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards. Supports and executes plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve plant's key performance goals including PM for overall maintenance performance. Provides mechanical support to all departments in operations. All tools for this position will be provided.
This position will require full support during harvest to include working seven days a week and 12 hours a day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects and performs alterations to plant buildings, mixes and pours concrete, and installs pipelines, millwork, fixtures, and similar equipment. Constructs equipment out of wood, metal, and other materials.
- Cuts, drills, taps, files, grinds, and fits all types of metal for fabrication, alterations, or repair to machines, building equipment, jigs and fixtures.
- A member of the maintenance staff in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the facility equipment, real property, and grounds.
- Provide technical expertise within the maintenance team.
- Provide maintenance support to operational departments.
- Ensure on-time start-ups, maximum mechanical and operational up-time, and consistent or improving product quality and capacity.
- Help execute PM's, PM audits, equipment installations, removals and modifications, complete work orders and work order paperwork.
- Coordinate assigned project work to include on-time completion, financial responsibility and product quality.
- Supports the company personnel and food safety programs, policies and procedures, and contract employee programs. Ensures subordinates comply.
- Must be able to understand, troubleshoot, and repair relatively specialized equipment throughout the plant.
- Safely inspects machinery and equipment while in operation for proper safeguarding, diagnosing faulty operation, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to keep the equipment in safe operating condition.
- Removes from service those machines which require major repairs, revisions or additions to machinery and reinstalls, including proper safeguarding.
- Operates, maintains, inspects, lubricates, and repairs equipment as necessary.
- Can operate production equipment when needed
- Makes out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, time distribution, material usage, etc., and performs other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed utilizing a computerized maintenance management system.
- May operate mobile equipment, including fork lifts, manlift, crane, and carts.
- Shall be well versed and agree to the business continuity Commitment to Food Safety and Quality. Shall report anything that may compromise food safety and quality to appropriate personnel, including the SQF Practitioner.
- Shall comply with the regulations as outlined in the corporate Document Control Policy.
- Shall dress and behave in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP’s), when applicable.
- In the event that the Maintenance Technician II is absent or unavailable, the back-up for their duties is the Maintenance Manager or may be delegated to external Contract Service Providers, unless otherwise described.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, trade certification, or equivalent maintenance experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in food processing, manufacturing, agriculture, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge, including motors, controls, VFDs, and sensors.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts is a plus.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance software and documentation.
- Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms for extended periods.
- Exposure to slippery or uneven walking surfaces
- Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot production environments and outdoor conditions.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Food manufacturing and processing facility.
- Exposure to machinery, moving equipment, noise, oils, water, cleaning chemicals, and seasonal outdoor conditions.
- Requires strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Pay: $33.00 - $41.00 per hour
