Huxley is working with a Chicago-based trading technology startup that's hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power trading, market data, clearing, and post-trade workflows. This is a hands-on role for a strong Java engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and contributing to projects from design through production. You'll be working on high-performance backend services that support real-time market data, exchange integrations, regulatory workflows, and trade processing. What they're looking for:
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
- Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Trading, fintech, market data, or other high-throughput systems experience is a plus
- Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required
- Ability to work onsite in Chicago's Loop 2-3 days per week or be fully remote
