Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including placement and adjustment of braces, retainers, and other appliances
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to strict infection control protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as OrthoTrac and Ortho2 Edge, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide patient education on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene best practices
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and managing medical documentation
- Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure the clinic environment adheres to infection control standards at all times
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Orthodontic Assistant preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems like OrthoTrac and Ortho2 Edge
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry considerations
- Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training, EFDA certified (Ortho)
