Position Summary
The Traveling Resident Assistant provides direct resident care and support services at various Better Living communities throughout Iowa. The Traveling Resident Assistant is responsible for delivering exceptional resident-centered care while upholding Better Living standards, policies, and our mission to love generously, serve passionately, and elevate every moment.
Essential Functions
Resident Care
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Grooming
- Toileting
- Continence care
- Ambulation and transfers
- Eating assistance
- Must be Med Managed Certified
- Must be CPR Certified
Resident Engagement
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and families.
- Participate in activities and resident engagement opportunities.
- Support Better Living's Resident-Led Initiative.
- Assist residents in attending meals, activities, and appointments.
- Promote a positive and welcoming environment.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately complete required documentation.
- Report incidents, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences immediately.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, department leaders, residents, and families.
- Follow all state and company reporting requirements.
Community Support
- Provide coverage at assigned Better Living communities throughout Iowa.
- Adapt quickly to various community environments and team structures.
- Assist with on-boarding and mentoring new caregivers when requested.
- Support special events, resident move-ins, and community initiatives.
- Maintain flexibility to work varying schedules based on operational needs.
Travel Requirements
- Travel to assigned Better Living communities throughout Iowa.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.
- May require overnight travel on occasion.
- Must be willing to work at any Iowa Better Living location as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Iowa Direct Care Worker training requirements completed.
- Ability to pass background checks and required screenings.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Preferred
- Previous assisted living, memory care, or long-term care experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience working with residents living with dementia.
- Experience working in multiple senior living settings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer up to 50 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Work Schedule
- Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities available.
- Days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Schedule may vary weekly based on community staffing needs.
