Community Habilitation / Respite Support Staff (Part-Time)
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and professional individual to provide part-time support services to a young adult enrolled in New York State Self-Direction services. The individual is motivated to increase independence, explore employment opportunities, build social connections, and become more involved in the community. They enjoy spending time with family and animals, reading, typing, football, exploring the community through car rides, exercising, and helping care for pets.
Responsibilities
- Provide Community Habilitation and Respite services focused on developing independent living, social, and community integration skills.
- Support participation in recreational, volunteer, educational, fitness, and community-based activities.
- Assist with exploring employment opportunities and developing work readiness skills.
- Encourage community participation while helping build confidence in new environments and social situations.
- Assist with establishing routines, increasing independence, and achieving person-centered goals.
- Provide transportation to community activities, appointments, and approved outings. Occasional travel may be required.
- Collaborate with the individual's family and support team to ensure consistency in supports.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow agency and OPWDD guidelines.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is: Patient, dependable, and consistent. Comfortable supporting an individual experiencing social anxiety and helping them gradually build confidence within the community. Interested in encouraging healthy lifestyles through activities such as walking, jogging, or going to the gym. Comfortable around dogs and cats, as pets are an important part of the individual's life. Able to promote independence while providing encouragement and positive support. Flexible, creative, and able to adapt activities based on the individual's interests and comfort level.
Schedule
- Part-time with flexible weekday and weekend hours based on the individual's schedule and community activities.
Compensation
Competitive pay, staff activity fees, and mileage reimbursement at the maximum federal rate.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or higher.
- Meets agency driver requirements and has reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the support team
- COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to comply with applicable health requirements
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $22.00 - $36.00 per hour
