After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is one of the leading national after-school program providers in the country. Our comprehensive school-based programs combine activities and learning to help build the knowledge and skills children need to succeed, both in school and in life. ASAS Hawaii serves over 3,000 at-risk youth in 13 middle/intermediate public schools.
Roles and Responsibilities :
The full-time, Program Specialist, under the direction of the Management Team, will provide overall support for the day-to-day operation of ASAS programs, to include, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, providing oversight for program initiatives and organization partnerships and support program staff to deliver quality after-school programs.
- Provide on-site support to Site Coordinator and Program Leader staff
- Review and assess program quality using prescribed evaluation tools
- Assist Site Coordinators to complete staff evaluations and develop front line staff’s skills
- Provide follow-up on progress re. partnerships and ASAS initiatives
- Substitute for Site Coordinator staff when the need arises
- Provide ongoing training and clarification for Site Coordinators
- Assist Site Coordinators in the implementation of site-wide curriculum or Program Initiatives
- Organize and facilitate parent information nights at all ASAS sites and attend any school organized open nights or parent events
- Act as a liaison for parent concerns and feedback to include distribution, collection and collation of parent surveys and feedback
- Visit Feeder Elementary Schools to promote ASAS to incoming students
- Facilitate visits to program sites by representatives from various funders
- Provide support to the Director of Programs
- Provide onsite support during program special events
- Any other tasks that may be assigned as needed
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
- Possess strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Must be self-directed and require minimum oversight in the performance of their duties.
- Travel between schools is an integral part of the position, therefore the candidate will need their own transportation. In addition availability to travel interisland and stay overnight on occasion is required.
- Ability to work weekends on occasion.
- Have three years or more experience in administration, project management and/or community programs.
- Have a familiarity with, and passion for, working with low income youth.
- Have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff and program staff.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Be detail oriented with strong leadership, organizational, managerial and communication skills.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
