What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:

Designing and analyzing high-voltage electrical systems, power distribution networks, and system architectures

Developing electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed design documentation using CAD and industry-standard tools

Conducting load flow analysis, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination to ensure system integrity and safety

Ensuring designs comply with relevant electrical codes, IEEE standards, and industry manufacturing standards

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, controls, and other engineering disciplines

Supporting commissioning activities, field testing protocols, and troubleshooting of electrical systems

Reviewing manufacturing specifications and supporting the transition of designs into production environments
What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:

5–10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, power systems design, or electrical systems engineering

Proficiency in high-voltage (HV) system design and analysis

Strong working knowledge of electrical codes, IEEE standards (such as IEEE 1415, IEEE C37 series), and industry design practices

Hands-on experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SmartPlant Electrical, or equivalent) for schematic and detailed design

Experience with power systems analysis software (load flow, short-circuit, transient stability analysis)

Demonstrated knowledge of protection schemes, coordination, and control logic for electrical systems

Experience in manufacturing environments, field application testing, or commissioning of electrical systems
