Job Description: Heavy Equipment Operator at Alliance Builders
Location: Location will vary depending on jobsite. Most sites are within Tolland and Windham Counties

Position Summary: As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Alliance Builders, you will play a crucial role in various site work activities including land clearing, excavation, underground utility installations (water, sewer, and electrical), site grading, drainage structures, foundation excavation, and backfill. You will operate a variety of heavy equipment and carry out various labor tasks safely and efficiently to ensure project timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate heavy machinery including excavators, mini excavators, loaders, track loaders, and dozers, among others.
- Perform land clearing and excavation tasks to prepare sites for construction.
- Install underground utilities such as water, sewer, and electrical systems.
- Conduct site grading and ensure proper drainage structures are in place.
- Excavate and backfill for foundations in compliance with project specifications.
- Work collaboratively with site laborers and assist with small tools and other construction activities as needed.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections and minor mechanical repairs.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and equipment status.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator with a strong track record of safely operating equipment.
- Experience in residential and light commercial construction is preferred.
- Ability to read site plans, operate basic laser leveling instruments, and establish layout and grades.
- OSHA certification is preferred; additional equipment training and certifications are a plus.
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license is preferred; ability to drive and back a trailer is required.
- Ability to perform mechanical work on machinery is preferred.
- Subsurface sewer/septic licenses such as P6 and P7 are preferred but not required.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to engage in various labor-related tasks as needed.
Pay: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour
