Join our innovative healthcare team as a Remote Hybrid Optometrist, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional eye care services through a flexible, technology-enabled environment. This dynamic position combines remote patient consultations with in-person ophthalmic examinations, offering you work life balance and flexbility.
Opto Bar is opening optometry practices inside Sacramento-area Walmart Vision Centers. We are hiring optometrists on a three-day-a-week schedule, two days of which can be worked remotely from home.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
Up to two of your three days can be worked from your own home. Your weekend day is one of the remote days.
THE SCHEDULE
Thursday, Friday, & Saturday or Sun.
Clinic hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm.
HOW THE CLINICAL MODEL WORKS
A trained ophthalmic technician completes the full work-up on site — history, visual acuity, autorefraction, retinal imaging, tonometry and visual fields — before the patient sees you. You perform the refraction, the ocular health assessment and the consultation over a live synchronous link. On your in-store day you rotate between two stores five minutes apart and handle anything requiring hands-on examination.
SCOPE
Comprehensive and intermediate exams, contact lens fittings, and full-scope medical optometry including diabetic eye exams, glaucoma monitoring, dry eye, red eye and urgent care on in person days.
COMPENSATION
$600 per in-store day. $550 per remote day. Production bonus uncapped. Approximately $94,000 annually on a three-day schedule — roughly 104% of the pro-rata Sacramento market rate for the hours. Malpractice insurance included.
REQUIREMENTS
Active California optometry licence. TPA certification. Comfortable working within a technician-assisted, technology-forward workflow. Spanish language ability is valued
