Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong reading, writing, and communication skills
- Must be able to interact professionally with children, coworkers, medical personnel, and others involved in the child’s care
- Age requirements:
- 18 years or older to work with children ages 6–12
- 21 years or older to work with children ages 13 and up
Responsibilities
- Child Supervision & Safety
- Provide consistent supervision and care for assigned children
- Maintain awareness of each child’s activities at all times (visual and/or auditory)
- Ensure safety, security, and emotional well-being in all settings
- Intervene promptly and appropriately when needed to protect or redirect a child
Individualized Support
- Adjust supervision methods to meet each child’s age, needs, and abilities
- Adapt care to the physical environment and potential risks
- Support each child’s emotional, mental, and social development
Development & Encouragement
- Understand and respond to each child’s habits, interests, and supervision needs.
- Create a structured, supportive, and engaging environment
- Encourage independence through age-appropriate activities and positive reinforcement
- Celebrate progress and achievements to build confidence and self-esteem
