Field Engineer – Utility-Scale Solar

Position Summary
Perfect Power is seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to support the construction and commissioning of one of our new utility-scale solar farm projects in Texas. The Field Engineer will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction projects and possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. This position requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and enjoys solving field challenges while working closely with project management, engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients. Responsibilities align with common utility-scale solar field engineering practices, including construction oversight, RFI management, quality assurance, schedule coordination, and commissioning support.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide daily field engineering support for utility-scale solar construction activities.
- Monitor work to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, engineering standards, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to resolve technical issues.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents for accuracy and constructability.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, field change documentation, and punch lists.
- Perform field inspections and verify quality workmanship throughout project execution.
- Assist with material tracking, inventory verification, and equipment deliveries.
- Monitor project schedules and identify potential delays or construction conflicts.
- Support installation activities involving:
- Solar PV modules
- Single-axis tracker systems
- Inverters
- DC collection systems
- Medium-voltage collection systems
- Underground utilities
- Assist with commissioning activities, system testing, energization, and project turnover.
- Document daily construction progress and prepare engineering reports.
- Promote a culture of safety while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Participate in contractor coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations.
- Support project closeout activities, including as-built documentation and final quality inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of construction or field engineering experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
- Experience with EPC construction environments.
- Knowledge of:
- Solar PV systems
- Tracker systems
- Inverters
- Medium-voltage electrical systems
- NEC and applicable electrical codes
- Experience managing RFIs, NCRs, change orders, and commissioning documentation.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Procore.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying Texas weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain.
- Ability to walk long distances across active construction sites.
- Ability to climb ladders and work around heavy equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
