Description:
The Director of Christian Services is responsible for the development and implementation of all the church’s outreach program ministries in consultation with the pastor. The director demonstrates a strong understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, ensuring that all outreach and social service initiatives reflect the Church's mission to uphold the dignity of every person, promote justice, and serve those who are poor and vulnerable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and functions outlined herein are representative of the types of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. - Oversees the management, growth, and ongoing development of all parish outreach ministries while identifying and implementing new ministry opportunities. Current ministries include Peace & Justice, Capital Outreach, Chicken Soup, Family Promise, the Food Pantry, the Lazarus Ministry, and the Haiti Ministry.
- Envisions new areas of outreach to the community and surrounding areas.
- Raises awareness of important social issues affecting the local community and the broader world by developing and implementing programs that promote service, advocacy, and outreach.
- Recruits, directs, and maintains a motivated volunteer team, including assessing team skills and abilities.
- Provides an initial assessment for individuals requesting financial or emergency assistance and connects them with appropriate community resources, including Catholic Charities, the Christian Service Center, and other agencies.
- Administers the parish grant program, managing the application, review, and distribution process for grants awarded to nonprofit organizations serving people in need.
- Coordinates the parish’s participation in Family Promise of Greater Orlando by leading approximately 200 volunteers in hosting four families during week-long stays, four times each year. Oversees all aspects of the program, including security, transportation, meals, laundry, hospitality, and individualized support to ensure a safe, welcoming, and dignified experience for participating families.
- Serves as an active member of the parish staff by participating in staff meetings, retreats, and other parish-wide gatherings.
- Develops communications for outreach ministries, including bulletin articles, parish announcements, website updates, and print and digital promotional materials.
- Coordinates facility scheduling and logistical support for all Christian Service Ministry meetings, events, and activities to ensure efficient operations.

CATHOLIC FAITH
Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in theology or ministry required. Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience, including recruitment, training, performance management, and retention of staff and volunteers. Requires strong multitasking abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge of and respect for the Roman Catholic Church. Must be able to work effectively with diverse personalities within a parish setting. Must possess a thorough understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and applies its principles to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of parish social service and outreach ministries.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This individual must be available during evenings and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function effectively under pressure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects and materials weighing up to 10 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. The ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time is required. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
