Aldersgate United Methodist Church is currently seeking a pianist to accompany our choir from September-May each year.
This individual will play an important role in supporting our choir and worship gatherings, working closely with the choir director to prepare music and provide accompaniment for the choir throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, weddings, and funerals. The choir performs two times a month in worship at two back to back worship gatherings.
We are looking for someone who is able to read music, comfortable accompanying a choir, and able to work with a variety of musical styles. Most importantly, we hope to find someone who is excited to use their musical gifts in service to God and our church family.
Primary Responsibilities:
- provide musical piano accompaniment for Sunday worship services
- participate in weekly choir rehearsals: typically 1 hour Monday evenings (extends to 1.5 hrs. during Christmas/Easter Cantata seasons) and 45 minutes on Sunday prior to worship services)
- collaborate with choir director to prepare appropriate music
- prepare practice recordings accessible to choir members between weekly rehearsals
- be available for additional services or special events (weddings, funerals, etc
Qualifications:
- proficiency in piano performance
- experience accompanying choirs
- ability to read music fluently and adapt to varying musical styles
- strong time management/preparation skills
- reliable, punctual and collaborative
Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
