The 42d Security Forces Squadron at Maxwell Air Force Base is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to serve as the Operations Support Manager. In this critical role, you will exercise second-level supervisory and managerial authority, playing a key part in securing, protecting, and defending Air Force weapons systems, installations, personnel, and resources.
You will be responsible for leading a dynamic team, ensuring the highest standards of security and law enforcement are met, and contributing directly to the mission's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Oversee Operations: Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the operations support flight, ensuring all security and law enforcement functions comply with regulatory requirements. Develop goals, set priorities, and prepare schedules to effectively utilize staff and resources.
- Supervise and Lead Personnel: Exercise full supervisory responsibilities, including directing and overseeing work through subordinate supervisors. Manage staff selections, promotions, and performance evaluations. Identify developmental needs and provide training to maintain and improve job performance.
- Represent the Squadron: Serve as a key representative of the Security Forces Squadron, building effective working relationships with installation and functional area organizations, as well as civilian and municipal law enforcement departments.
- Enforce Law and Order: Perform and enforce the full range of police officer duties, including directing investigations, managing incident responses, and acting as the on-scene commander for significant events.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Extensive knowledge of law enforcement, security, and anti-terrorism principles, methods, and practices.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of a security organization and to mentor, motivate, and appraise staff operating under stressful conditions.
- Strong ability to analyze and adjust work operations to meet program requirements within available resources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of tactics and procedures for responding to catastrophic events and other threats.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must successfully complete the Air Force DAF Police Supervisor Course or an approved equivalent.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to initial and periodic drug testing.
- The position is designated "Emergency-Essential" and requires continued performance of duties during crisis situations.
- Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination and subsequent periodic physical fitness/agility tests.
- Must qualify to possess firearms in accordance with the Gun Control Act.
- A valid state driver's license is required.
- Must pass a formal law enforcement training school and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification
