JOB DUTIES
- Conduct Interviews to Determine Initial and Ongoing Eligibility for Assistance
- Discuss Available Benefit Programs, such as Ohio Works First, Medicaid, SNAP, and PRC
- Explain to Clients their Rights and Responsibilities and Agency Procedures
- Utilize Interview Techniques to Obtain Client History and Determine Barriers
- Review and Verify All Client Documentation
- Compute Budgets and Approve/Deny Applications Based on Regulations
- Refer Clients to Relevant Community Services, such as Crisis Management and Life Skills
- Prepare and Manage Accurate Case Records
- Process Necessary Case Changes
- Send Notifications to Clients of Case Actions Taken
- Make Referrals for Suspected Fraud, Overpayments, and Lost/Stolen Warrants to Investigative Unit
- Assist with Hearing Summaries and Attend Hearings if Required
- Respond to Inquiries from the Public via Telephone, Written Correspondence, or In Person
WAGE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience as an Eligibility/Referral Specialist 1
- OR Two years experience as Unit Support Worker 2
- OR Completion of undergraduate major core coursework in behavioral science, social science or education; one course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding, or word processing
- OR Completion of two years of technical education in behavioral science or social science. One course or six months experience in interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing.
- OR Two courses or one year of experience in behavioral science, social science, or customer service techniques, one course or six months experience in business math, business English, and interviewing techniques, and one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing.
- OR education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
