Kemp has an immediate opening and is looking to add to our already dynamic preconstruction/estimating department. We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team of dedicated professionals. This role will require a motivated individual who works well within a main office group setting, enjoys collaborating, is organized, and is looking to advance and grow with the company.
Requirements& Responsibilities
- Review RFP’s and SOW’s to understand project(s) and formulate cost estimates
- Work to source and obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Analyze / compare subcontractor proposals and ensure they meet project work scopes
- Create accurate and detailed scopes of work and all related project estimates
- Estimating of labor / materials / subcontractor costs and all other costs for complete work
- Support our Preconstruction and Operations teams in developing / presenting estimates
- Send bid invites to targeted subcontractors to ensure proper subcontractor coverage
- Identify and suggest project savings and production efficiencies
- Perform pre-estimate site walks and visit active job sites, as needed
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key subcontractors and vendors
- Analyze all project requirement documents, specifications, and project plans
- Prepare estimates and spreadsheets for all deliverable stages, Schematic to Permit Set
- Use bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis depending on client or company needs
- Present comprehensive project cost estimates to management and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 6+years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam, Excel, and Google spreadsheets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding of construction materials, means and methods, and related terminology
- Familiarity with commercial building and public works contracting codes
- Ability to travel occasionally to local projects for site visits +/- 60miles
- Sets high standards of performance for self and others
- Assumes responsibility / accountability for successfully completing assignments
- Ensures a high-quality work product representative of a professional effort
