Job Summary:
The Dock Lead will oversee the daily operations of the dock area, focusing on efficient processing of shipments and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The role involves coordinating with dock staff, ensuring proper loading of trucks, handling inventory and freight, and managing customer returns. The ideal candidate will a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to ensuring that all delivery operations meet company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Dock Operations: Coordinate daily dock activities, including loading and unloading of goods, ensuring efficient and accurate processing.
· Loading Final Mile Straight Trucks: Ensure the proper loading of final mile straight trucks, optimizing space and ensuring the safe and secure transport of goods. Verify that all loads are accurately staged and documented.
· Staff Support: Provide guidance and support to dock staff, ensuring adherence to operational procedures and safety practices.
· Inventory Management and Scanning: Utilize scanning technology to track and manage inventory levels. Maintain accurate records of all items, ensuring that stock is properly accounted for, and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
· Receiving Freight: Use computer systems to record and manage the receipt of incoming freight. Verify shipments against purchase orders, check for damages, and ensure accurate data entry.
· Handling Returns: Process customer returns, including inspecting returned items, updating inventory records, and coordinating with customer service to resolve issues. Ensure returns are handled efficiently and in accordance with company policies.
· Quality Control: Inspect shipments for accuracy and quality. Address any discrepancies or issues with shipments promptly and effectively.
· Safety Management: Enforce safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any potential hazards.
· Coordination: Collaborate with drivers, warehouse staff, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods. Resolve any operational issues or delays proactively.
· Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of dock activities, including shipment records, inventory levels, and performance metrics. Prepare and submit reports as needed.
Skills and Requirements:
· Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory role within a dock or warehouse environment, preferably in final mile delivery or logistics.
· Skills: Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Knowledge: Solid understanding of dock operations, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
· Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items and work in a fast-paced environment.
