POSITION DETAILS
As a Groundman at Dakota Matting & Environmental Solutions, safety remains our top priority in all operational facets. You will play a vital role in ensuring a secure work environment while supporting our access construction matting operations. Your responsibilities encompass various tasks related to traffic control, mat installation and removal, along with additional duties related to fencing, gate installation, temporary construction needs, and erosion control practices, all executed with a strong commitment to safety. You will make key contributions to the success of our operations:
- Safely manage traffic flow, ensuring compliance with safety protocols by effectively flagging and directing traffic in and around workzones.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the safe use of hand tools required for tasks related to matting installation, maintenance, and site preparation.
- Assist the team in the proper installation and removal of access construction mats, ensuring strict adherence to safety measures and project specifications.
- Safely and proficiently cut fences and install arm gates.
- Assist in implementing erosion control best management practices.
- Uphold and promote a safety-first culture, actively participating in safety meetings, adhering to safety protocols, and identifying potential hazards to prevent incidents.
- Identify and address job-site hazards or safety concerns, initiating a "Stop Work" directive when necessary.
- Effectively communicate the expectations of the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to customers or third-party personnel entering the work zone.
- Represents the company with a high degree of professionalism.
- Knows and follows company personnel and safety policies.
- Support temporary construction needs as directed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
At Dakota, we take on and execute some of the most challenging access jobs in the country. To help us successfully execute our jobs, we are looking for a Groundman with these qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Must have handtool knowledge.
- Must be able to adhere to all safety and quality procedures
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment prioritizing safety.
- Physically able to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods while adhering to safety protocols.
- Willing to travel to multiple states and to various job sites.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (day, night, weekends and/or holidays) as needed.
- Be ready to respond promptly to unforeseen emergencies that may affect utilities such as floods, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other similar situations.
- Valid certification in First Aid/CPR, or ability to complete certification within 30 days of employment.
- Valid OSHA 10, or ability to complete certification within 30 days of employment.
- Valid Power Safe training, or ability to complete Power safe equivalent training within 30 days of employment.
