Choose the Pay Tier That Works for You
- Tier 1 – W-2, benefit eligible: $37 per hour
- Tier 2 – W-2, not benefit eligible: $41 per hour
- 1099 independent contractor: $44 per hour

About the Role
As a Correctional LPN, you will provide practical nursing care to incarcerated individuals under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.
You will administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor patient conditions, respond to medical concerns, document services accurately, and collaborate with healthcare and correctional personnel to maintain a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, hands-on nursing care to incarcerated individuals
- Implement established nursing care and treatment plans
- Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications
- Perform ordered treatments and monitor patient responses
- Observe patients and report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral condition
- Take and record vital signs
- Collect specimens and assist with clinical testing
- Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and other daily living needs
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first aid
- Maintain accurate progress notes and medication records
- Document care in the electronic medical record
- Maintain complete and confidential healthcare documentation
- Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, patients, and correctional staff
- Follow correctional healthcare regulations, security procedures, and facility standards
- Promote a safe, professional, and respectful environment
- Participate in required correctional nursing training and continuing education
Expert-Level Expectations
The selected LPN should be capable of:
- Providing guidance within the LPN scope of practice
- Answering questions related to practical nursing care
- Troubleshooting patient-care and treatment concerns
- Recognizing changes in patient condition and initiating an appropriate response
- Prioritizing care for patients with varied medical needs
- Remaining calm and professional during emergencies
- Supporting direct-care and healthcare personnel
- Maintaining compliance with clinical, regulatory, security, and documentation standards
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have:
- A current, unrestricted Pennsylvania LPN license
- Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Strong practical-nursing and patient-assessment skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Effective communication, organization, teamwork, and safety-awareness abilities
- The ability to provide verifiable education, training, licensure, and employment history
- The ability to work the scheduled 2nd shift

- Stand and walk for extended periods
