Purpose Statement:
The role of the Secondary Aide (Math Tutor) is responsible for delivering targeted mathematics support to students participating in a blended learning model that combines online coursework with in-person academic assistance. The tutor provides individualized and small-group instruction, helps students navigate digital learning platforms, and collaborates with the mathematics department to implement effective intervention strategies. This position plays a key role in fostering student engagement, academic growth, helping students stay on target and mastery of high school mathematics concepts.
Job Summary:
Provides individualized or small-group instruction to students in grades 9–12, helping them improve their understanding of mathematics, strengthen problem-solving skills, and achieve academic success. The tutor assesses student needs, develops lesson plans, explains mathematical concepts clearly, and supports preparation for quizzes, exams, standardized tests, and coursework in a blended learning online environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):-
Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring in high school math subjects, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

Assess students' strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.

Develop customized lesson plans and study strategies.

Explain mathematical concepts using clear and engaging methods.

Assist with homework, assignments, projects, and test preparation.

Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.

Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence in mathematics.

Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student performance.

Stay current with high school curriculum standards and teaching practices.

Work closely with the math team/MTSS team/academic counselors to identify student learning needs, coordinate intervention plans, and implement effective tutoring approaches that promote academic success.

Partner with teachers and math department staff to review student progress, align tutoring sessions with classroom objectives, and support achievement of learning outcomes.

Participate in regular team meetings with math educators to discuss student performance, exchange instructional resources, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with the math team to design and deliver targeted academic support programs that enhance student understanding and engagement in mathematics.

Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position: Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

Qualifications:

High school diploma required
