ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Congregation Kol Tikvah is a Reform Jewish Synagogue with typical house of worship and religious school operations as well as a vibrant Early Childhood Center (children 1-1/2 - 4 years old).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking 1-2 motivated and committed individuals with a strong work ethic and custodial/janitorial experience and good communication skills to oversee the overall care, cleaning, and maintenance of our building. Candidates must speak English; authorized to work in the US and is able to pass a background check, which includes clearance and fingerprinting for working in a school with very small children.
Normal Work Hours (may include varying shifts):
Monday - Friday- 7:00am - 3:00pm, or later depending on events
Some weekends as needed
DUTIES INCLUDED:
· Set-up and breakdown for events (services, meetings, weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, other parties, classroom events, events and programs with tables and chairs, linens, portable sound system, etc.) as each event requires.
· Participate in routine and special cleaning of all areas within the synagogue, including offices, sanctuary, classrooms, kitchen, restrooms and their fixtures. Operate custodial equipment and maintenance tools and use non-toxic cleaning products.
· Empty trash as needed throughout the day.
· Walk property to remove trash as needed.
· Stock paper products daily
· Respond to staffing needs as they arise.
· Additional duties as assigned.
· Willing to learn additional tasks
Physical Requirements:
● Stand and walk for extended periods of time
● Reach and extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
● Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
● Bend, stoop and kneel to grasp objects and climb ladders
● Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat
● Lift and move heavy loads (50+ lbs) and carts
● Good distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
● Hear well enough to perform essential functions of the job
