POSITION OVERVIEW
The Public Works Field Supervisor serves as a working supervisor responsible for coordinating daily field operations and supporting the implementation of departmental goals and initiatives. This position provides leadership and direction to Public Works staff while actively participating in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Village infrastructure, facilities, utilities, and equipment.
The position works closely with the Public Works Director to ensure projects, maintenance activities, and operational objectives are completed efficiently, safely, and effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FIELD OPERATIONS & LEADERSHIP
Ø Coordinate daily work schedules and operational priorities for Public Works staff.
Ø Provide leadership and direction to Public Works operators to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
Ø Assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of departmental projects and initiatives.
Ø Respond to emergency situations and coordinate off-hours operational response efforts when necessary.
INFRASTRUCTURE & MAINTENANCE
Ø Perform all duties associated with Public Works operations, including equipment operation and field work.
Ø Support maintenance and operation of Village streets, utilities, facilities, parks, and infrastructure systems.
Ø Maintain operational readiness, organization, and cleanliness of Public Works facilities and equipment storage areas.
PROJECT & VENDOR COORDINATION
Ø Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and construction documents.
Ø Coordinate subcontractors and vendors working on Village projects.
Ø Obtain quotes, order materials and supplies, and maintain awareness of departmental inventory needs.
COMMUNICATION & ORGANIZATION
Ø Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, and residents.
Ø Support departmental goal implementation and operational efficiency initiatives.
Ø Assist in maintaining accurate records, schedules, and project coordination activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should possess:
Ø Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to maintain licensure.
Ø Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in public works, municipal operations, utilities, road construction, parks maintenance, or related fields.
Ø Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
Ø Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Ø Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Ø Experience coordinating projects, field operations, and maintenance activities preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

WORK SCHEDULE:
