Part-Time / On-Call / As Needed
Pay: $75/hour while captaining
We’re looking for experienced, personable boat captains to join our on-call captain pool at Huntington Harbor Boat Rentals.
This is not a regular weekly position and does not come with guaranteed hours. Instead, we’re building a reliable group of licensed captains we can reach out to when customers request a captain for their rental, as well as for private cruises, events, busy weekends, holidays, and other special bookings.
This is a great fit for someone who already works in the marine industry, captains independently, is retired/semi-retired, or simply wants to pick up occasional paid captain work.
What You’ll Do
- Captain electric boats within Huntington Harbour
- Safely navigate, dock, launch, and operate vessels
- Provide guests with a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience
- Maintain a professional and friendly presence with customers
- Monitor weather, water, and boating conditions
- Follow all company safety procedures and boating regulations
- Help protect the vessel, passengers, company, and surrounding property
- Communicate promptly with our team regarding availability and bookings
What We’re Looking For
- Valid USCG Captain’s License
- Strong boating and docking experience
- Excellent judgment and a safety-first mindset
- Dependable, punctual, and responsive
- Calm and confident handling boats around docks and other vessels
- Friendly and comfortable interacting with customers
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Someone we can trust to represent our company when working directly with guests
How the Captain Pool Works
There are no guaranteed hours or set weekly schedule.
When we have a booking that needs a captain, we’ll reach out to members of our captain pool with the date, time, and expected duration. If you’re available and interested, you can accept the job. If you’re unavailable, there’s no obligation to take it.
Most opportunities will be on weekends, holidays, summer days, evenings, and during special events, although bookings may come up throughout the year.
Compensation
$75/hour while captaining
Booking length and timing will vary depending on the customer and event.
