Denali Preschool & Learning Center (DPLC) in partnership with the Denali Borough School District in Healy, AK, is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Preschool Assistant to join our team! DPLC is the only state-licensed childcare center in the borough and home to a certified preschool.

Position Summary
The Preschool Assistant works alongside the Denali Borough Preschool Coordinator to provide nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care and education for children ages four and five. This position supports classroom routines, supervises children, assists with learning activities, maintains a safe environment, and helps create a positive experience for children and families.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in implementing engaging, play-based learning activities.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play while maintaining active supervision.
- Foster positive social-emotional development through encouragement and positive guidance.
- Assist with meals, snacks, toileting, handwashing, and other daily routines.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow all DPLC and DBSD policies and Alaska Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Be flexible and willing to assist where needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with young children in a formal setting.
- Ability to pass required background checks for Alaska Child Care Licensing.
- Current (or willingness to obtain) First Aid/CPR certification.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Schedule
This position is part-time generally between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with routine afternoon hours for weekly meetings and training, with some flexibility depending on program needs. There are options for additional work as a child care provider with DPLC for after-school care.
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
