The Midtown Group is actively seeking 10 dedicated and detail-oriented Test Proctors to support the "Read & Achieve Project" on behalf of the American Institutes for Research (AIR). AIR is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that partners with schools nationwide to evaluate programs and improve educational outcomes through rigorous research.
In this role, you will travel to assigned middle schools in the Stockton area to administer one-on-one literacy assessments to 6th and 7th-grade students. This is a strict data-collection role. You will be utilizing provided technology to securely log student responses in real-time.
Important Note: This is not a teaching or tutoring position. You will be required to read standardized testing scripts verbatim. If a student struggles, you must strictly follow the testing protocol without assisting, prompting, or coaching them.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the DIBELS 8th Edition and Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test (GMRT) in a one-on-one setting to middle school students.
- Strictly adhere to a provided testing script and testing protocols without deviating or offering educational guidance.
- Utilize a client-provided iPad to rapidly and accurately log student responses, scan testing materials, and securely upload data in real-time.
- Maintain a calm, focused, and authoritative testing environment for 6th and 7th-grade students.
- Travel daily to assigned local middle schools within the Stockton, CA area.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Availability: Must be fully available Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for the first three weeks of August.
- Background Check: Must be willing and able to pass a strict school district background check and fingerprinting process immediately upon conditional offer.
- Experience: Prior experience in education, standardized test administration, tutoring, childcare, or strict compliance/data-collection environments is highly preferred.
- Protocol Adherence: Ability to completely turn off the "teaching/nurturing" instinct and act solely as an objective data collector.
- Tech Savvy: Highly comfortable navigating modern tablet applications and performing rapid data entry under fast-paced conditions.
- Transportation: Must possess reliable personal transportation to commute to designated testing sites across Stockton (mileage and drive-time are fully reimbursed).
