Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and other specialty items.
- Prepare food items according to safety standards and recipes, including slicing meats, cheeses, and assembling sandwiches or platters.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli and meat counters in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for accurate sales processing, cash handling, and transactions.
- Manage inventory levels by restocking products efficiently while minimizing waste.
- Upsell complementary products like sauces, bread, or beverages to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all food handling procedures meet sanitation standards; assist with bussing and general cleanliness of the department.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or food service environments such as quick service restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, or retail food departments.
- Familiarity with POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and actively listen to customer needs.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management.
- Culinary experience or restaurant background is highly desirable; serving or cashiering experience is a plus.
