POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Crisis Center (FCC) Prevention Specialist is responsible for implementation and evaluation of the Center’s comprehensive primary prevention program. This position provides educational programming and community engagement activities utilizing the public health and community organizing models to work with youth, adults and the community as a whole in order to prevent sexual violence. All FCC staff share client service and other responsibilities of the organization, as required.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
SEXUAL VIOLENCE PRIMARY PREVENTION:
- Participate in training, conferences and other forms of professional development in order to be well versed in sexual violence primary prevention topics.
- Implement sexual violence primary prevention approaches that strengthen household financial security; promote family-friendly policies; modify the physical and social environment; include bystander intervention efforts; mobilize men and boys as allies; and strengthen leadership opportunities for girls and women.
- Engage youth and adult influencers in the community in primary prevention programs utilizing the Close to Home approach in order to create protective environments and promote norms that protect against violence.
- Engage community partners, community leaders, and other stakeholders in primary prevention programs in order to strengthen economic supports, create protective environments, and promote norms that protect against violence.
- Recruit and train teens to participate in the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and facilitate meetings and activities conducted by the group to enhance prevention strategies.
- Assess community needs and readiness in regards to primary prevention programming, as well as needs of underserved populations within the community, through outreach and research to effectively meet community and diversity needs.
- Evaluate prevention strategies and outcome data for program improvement and reporting to appropriate funding agencies.
- Develop social media content and campaigns related to primary prevention programs.
- Document meetings, trainings, and other activities on presentation logs for reporting purposes.
- Prepare written reports on program activities for reporting purposes.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements of child and/or elder abuse.
